Life is funny

I thought I'd share a few cute pics of my daughter Lili and her cousin Chris,Lili and I on Mother's Day, and a few snaps Jacob took of Lili This week.
What a funny way to start off the day. Now that I'm writing about it I'm smiling.

*Look for a banana to put in my cereal, really stoked for some reason. Nothing in the fruit basket. Bummer. Oh well. Oh!Dried cranberries in my cereal!Yes!
*Open packet and out fall about 6 scrawny pieces of cranberries.
*Burn 1st piece of toast, when it's on one of the lowest settings...annoying
*Make another piece and put on the perfect amount of butter and strawberry jam
*pour bowl of cereal
* Sit down at computer and start reading something, while chowing down.
*2nd bite of toast, went to set it down ( while still reading) totally miss the desk and half of it falls on Jacob's favorite white t-shirt, the other half on the floor. For a brief second I contemplate eating it. Then I take a closer look at the floor. Bad news Bears....wow...really dirty.
*Run to rinse off the jam and start the 3rd piece of toast. SO I decide to stand there and eat my cereal. (One of my biggest petpeeves is soggy room temperature cereal. (I know...not that big of a deal, but the only cereal that should be soft is hot cereals.... like oatmeal.)
* Open the washer to put in the shirt with oxyclean and start a load of laundry, of course there is wet laundry in there....
*Open the dryer to throw it in, and there is a load of dry laundry in there.
*Finalllllly locate the dang laundry basket.
* Throw away the jar of jam because it's empty.
*Jacob comes home and wants a Pb&j... OOps no more jelly.
* Baby cries...Help her fall back to sleep.
* Sit down to bowl of cereal, and of course it's soggy. But I manage to swallow it.
What a morning!Haha. Life is funny.

Accessorize yourself

Jewelry, hats and belts are the cheapest way to stretch out your wardrobe. A killer hat like the one in these photos totally make the outfit. You Can make a few pieces of clothing into a few days worth of outfits by simply using accessories and jewelry.
Different color belts, jewelry and shoes make one outfit look completely different.
I will demonstrate this later next week, but in the meantime.....

I love the 1950s/60s cocktail hour look in these photos. So cute!

This photo shoot was a collaboration between Clayton Austin and I, back in October last year when I was about to pop. I was about 8 months pregnant.

I did wardrobe/props/and make-up. I love working with Clayton. He has a brilliant imagination and a keen eye for what is beautiful.

Check out his very addicting blog at:

Man this guy came in to the shop today looking for a flashy dress for himself to win a contest for a Drag show. I wish Jacob would have gotten a pic of him with out his sweet shades on, he looks like Richard Simmons! No luck with what he was looking for apparently, but good luck with the contest!

MGMT - Time To Pretend

Oh so gaudy....

Do you ever see a dress and think " wow thats amazing, but where the heck would I wear it??"

Who cares, buy it and make plans to wear it out.

I do it all the time. It feels great. Sometimes my husband says " wow, you look nice... where are we going???"

I reply, " I dunno, think of somewhere to take me."

It just feels great to look good.

While I was pricing out merch I though, " Oh my gosh!! my friend Medda would look KILLER in this sequin dress!!!!!"

So I called her over and did a mini photoshoot.

Shelby Guevara

Born in 1987

I'm a wife, and a mother of a 5 1/2 month old

I also will be sharing Vintage fashion photos and tips, as well as sweet music. I also would love to share my awesome finds while I'm out hunting around for merch for the shop and things for my apartment.

Now an explination for the Blog name:

(Taken from urbandictionary.com- i love them! FYI some of their content is nasty)

1. Kitschy

so tacky or lame that it has a certain ironic appeal.

lava lamps and trucker hats are very kitschy

2. Kitsch

as an art movement, lifestyle, or literature and film genre ,kitsch is pleasingly distasteful. It's melodramatic, overdone ,gaudy and tacky, or sentimental and folksy. It's so bad that its cool. Your cat might attack it, but it's hot. And NO, Martha Stewart and Jerry Springer are NOT bad enough to be kitsch. At all. Paris and Nicole though....

"You're looking rather Kitsch today, your Grandma's necklace is HOT."

Kitsch to me is....

...the 1950's avacado green dress that whispers, "let's go on a picnic"
The Wild '80s sequin dress that sings, " martini time!"
It's the 1970's boho tooled leather bag you wear to garage sales.
The colorful stack of old suitcases concealing your dvds.
It's the gigantic obnoxious 1980s necklace that you get compliments on every time you wear it.
The heirloom necklace your mom gave to you that was her grandmothers.

Kitsch is my store, my life.
The "bang bang" part comes from the gunshot type impression you make on people when you walk into a room, because you are loud with your self expression and awesome taste for fashion.
The "bang bang" also comes from the 1968 movie, Chitty Chitty bang bang, but I suppose you already cought that....
